Living Large with a small wallet

It’s easy to grab a few groceries here and there while mystery shopping. But if you do like I’ve mentioned countless times before and sign up for A LOT of mystery shopping companies you should, with a little work and a sprinkle of luck, be able to find a regular offering of high-end restaurants to enjoy. A quick word to the wise – if you are not detail-oriented, and prepared to follow explicit instructions, you may want to pass on the high-end restaurant shops. It can take a couple of hours to complete a detailed report after you return home from a great meal. But, if you consider the reimbursement, the hourly wage is pretty good. This is an AWESOME way you can go out and have a FABULOUS dinner and get most of it, if not all of it, reimbursed to you. I hope it goes without saying, if you cannot afford to wait for the reimbursement, pass on it. You shouldn’t add to your credit card debt for a meal. When you are reimbursed, be sure to pay it all towards the credit card you used. Sorry, I’ve veered off track, this isn’t a blog about personal finances. So- last weekend, our son graduated from college! We picked up a “Dinner for 3” shop at one of our favorite, upper-end steak houses. The reimbursement was $270 and we had South African lobster tails, Bone-in Ribeye, & Oscar-topped Filet. We each had a nice glass of wine and shared Calamari, Garlic Shrimp, Potatoes Au Gratin, Lobster Mac n’ Cheese, & medley of Roasted mushrooms. What a great way to celebrate. I’ll happily spend time with my family and then spend some more time on the computer writing a detailed report when I get $270 back!!!!! Now, Get Off That A$$!

My wife & I travel quite a bit. Both for work and for play. Everywhere we go, we look for places the enhance our hobby of mystery shopping. In fact, a few years ago our other hobby of buying abandoned storage lockers was lucrative enough to send us to the Big Island of Hawaii for a week! While there, we conducted a mystery shop at Ruths' Chris Steakhouse. We were reimbursed over $200! That's a pair of Benjamins we didn't have to budget for during our vacation. We hope to compile other money saving opportunities we've enjoyed on this blog.
