I know that not everyone has large grocery store chains on every corner. I live in an area that does. Plus I work out of town which has me driving right past even more locations! I suggest that you plan ahead when making multiple shop runs in a single outing. Know what you’re going after, use coupons if you can to make that MSC reimbursement go even further, and by all means, use the cash back apps like ibotta or Checkout 51.
You could throw a cooler in the back seat to help keep the perishables cool during your run. Or, simply plan on buying them all at the last shop before you head home. Most grocery stores have websites where you can view their current sales circular. Check it out ahead of time so you know what’s on sale. Sale items and BOGO items really stretch the MSC reimbursement.
Like couponing, use some common sense when using the cash back apps. Just because there is a rebate on an item doesn’t mean it’s a good deal. Many times, a store brand, costs significantly less than its name-brand counterpart even after the rebate you’re offered. However, some folks like certain brands and that is certainly their prerogative. Keep in mind, some rebates may only be $0.10 – $0.25 but it all adds up. If you were walking down the road and saw a quarter, I’m sure you would pick it up.
I don’t care how big or how little your paycheck is each period, the grocery haul pictured above is worth a lot of money. WAAAAAAAY more than the $7.32 I ended up paying for it. Wouldn’t it be nice to spend your money on something other than groceries? Now, Get Off That A$$
